Bought Back From Netflix by Its Creators, Cozy MMO Spirit Crossing Launches November 16 on Switch 2, Switch, and PC

Spirit Crossing gameplay showing players riding flying fluffalos across the Crosslands on Switch 2 and PC

After more than five years in development and buying back its studio independence from Netflix Games, Spry Fox (the team behind Cozy Grove, Triple Town, and Alphabear) has officially locked in the launch of Spirit Crossing for November 16, 2026. Revealed during the October 2026 Nintendo Indie World showcase, this warm cooperative life-sim MMO will debut simultaneously as a console exclusive on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch alongside PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

From the Storm-Swept Crosslands to Shared Waystations: How This Combat-Free MMO Works

Designed from the ground up to ease loneliness without the competitive grind of traditional online games, Spirit Crossing invites players into the Crosslands, a shifting sky realm bridging the human and spirit worlds. Every newcomer is assigned to a Waystation, a shared village settlement where neighbors pool resources to plant orchards, construct communal buildings, and restore the great Beacons through acts of kindness and offerings that shield the community from magical storms.

Alongside shared village projects, each traveler claims a private mountain peak home to decorate from floor to ceiling, ranging from a quiet cottage to a sprawling castle packed with furniture, plants, rugs, and a friendly resident bear roommate. Out in the ever-changing wilderness, combat is replaced by gliding through pastel clouds, riding in flying fluffalo trains, painting collaborative murals, competing in sky fishing tournaments, and gathering around communal bonfires for impromptu musical jam sessions whenever a storm rolls in.

Opt-In Social Silhouettes, Launch Pricing, and Separate Switch vs. Switch 2 Editions

To keep social interactions stress-free, Spry Fox built an opt-in silhouette system where other wanderers initially appear as quiet shadows. Sharing a quick high five or fishing side by side causes strangers to bloom into full color, revealing their customized outfits and unlocking a progressive friendship tree with proximity chat, two-player emotes, gift-giving, and instant friend teleportation. Players who prefer a solitary session can opt out of meeting others at any time and remain a peaceful shadow.

Freed from its former Netflix mobile publishing deal, the game launches as a paid premium title priced at $29.99 (€24.99 in Europe), with a 10% pre-order and launch discount bringing it down to $26.99 (€22.49) on the Nintendo eShop through November 21, 2026. No clothing or furniture items are locked behind microtransactions; instead, an optional monthly "Cozy Club" membership (with 30 free days included upfront) lets supporters help fund ongoing server costs while unlocking convenience perks like flying pet fluffalo customization, extra outfit save slots, and exclusive flairs.

One important technical caveat stands out ahead of its arrival on the November 2026 game release calendar. While PC players will carry over all progression from the Steam demo into the full release, Nintendo and Spry Fox warn that the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 editions are sold as separate products on the eShop, with no cross-compatible save data or add-on content between the two console versions.

My Perspective

Watching Spry Fox buy back its independence from Netflix to give Spirit Crossing a proper PC and console launch is easily the best outcome this project could have hoped for. I love how the shadow-to-color social mechanic blends the gentle serendipity of Sky: Children of the Light with the decorative charm of Cozy Grove while ditching predatory free-to-play cash shops. My only real gripe is the Nintendo version split: selling the Switch and Switch 2 editions as separate purchases without save transfer in late 2026 is an annoying trap for upgrading players, so double-check which eShop listing you select before locking in that pre-order.
