2XKO Adds Sett This Month, but Riot Games is Already Ending Content Updates

Fighting game fans just got hit with a double surprise. Riot Games finally shared news about 2XKO, delivering one big win and one major disappointment in the same breath.
The good news: Sett is stepping into the ring this October 2026. The bad news: this upcoming patch will be the final major content update. Riot Games has decided to halt active development on new champions.
Sett steps in to throw heavy hands
If you wanted a heavyweight brawler with serious impact, Sett is built for raw destruction. The fan-favorite League of Legends champion joins the roster alongside Samira, bringing crushing close-range pressure.
In action, Sett plays like an old-school pugilist. He grabs airborne opponents, lands brutal elbow strikes, and uses his signature Grit meter. The more damage he absorbs, the harder he hits back with his massive Haymaker blast.
Why Riot Games is pulling the plug on updates
So why stop adding new champions when the game just found its footing? The reality comes down to simple math: 2XKO costs too much to sustain compared to its active player base.

The 2v2 tag mechanics are deeply satisfying for dedicated fighting game veterans, but they created a steep learning curve for casual players. With complex assist calls and relentless combo strings, many newcomers walked away after a few tough matches.
Don't worry though: the online servers are staying up. Ranked queues, casual lobbies, and community tournaments will continue running as normal. It is simply the roadmap of future characters that stops after Sett.
My opinion
It hurts to see active support wrap up so quickly because the core combat feels incredible. But the free-to-play live-service model demands millions of daily players to justify full development squads. Casuals got overwhelmed during the test phases, and Riot chose to pull the plug early rather than burn through millions chasing a niche audience.
