Warhammer Day 2026: Battlesector Black Legion Campaign, Deathmaster Story Trailer, and Weta Workshop Statue Teased

Games Workshop is celebrating Warhammer Day 2026 with a packed wave of announcements spanning officially licensed video games, digital storefront sales, and high-end collectibles. In its official showcase roundup published on Warhammer Community, the company spotlighted the fifth anniversary of Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector with a brand-new story expansion against the Black Legion, revisited the bloody Skaven stealth action of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster, and teased an imposing new collectible statue from Wētā Workshop.
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector - Courage & Catastrophe Launches December 14, 2026
Five years after its original debut, Slitherine and Black Lab Games' turn-based tactical wargame is opening a major narrative front. Launching on December 14, 2026, the stand-alone campaign expansion Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector - Courage & Catastrophe delivers a 13-mission story campaign set on the war-torn mining world of Foran Prime. Once isolated from the Imperium by fierce warp storms before being rediscovered for relentless promethium extraction, the planet sees its labor force driven to heresy by whispers from the Immaterium, putting the Imperial Tithe in jeopardy.
Answering emergency distress hymnals, a strike force from the legendary Ultramarines 2nd Company led by Lieutenant Simus and Chaplain Macerno reroutes to Foran Prime to crush the rebellion, only to uncover a far darker threat. Heretic cultists have unearthed an ancient Noctilith Crown, a potent edifice of Chaos. Heeding the augury of his Sorcerer Senok, Chaos Lord Locrus Ashforged leads a Black Legion battlefleet into orbit to reclaim the artifact across fog-shrouded swamps, frontier work-camps, and heavy industrial zones.

Alongside its 13 narrative missions, which require no prior DLC to play, the expansion reinforces the Ultramarines roster with three new units:
- Primaris Lieutenant: Armed with a Storm Shield, Power Sword, and Neo-Volkite Pistol, these front-line officers optimize nearby squad lethality and provide tactical combat leadership.
- Chaplain: Warrior-priests who bolster unit morale with inspiring litanies while leading frontline assaults and crushing heretics with their Crozius Arcanum.
- Reivers: Agile shock troops specialized in infiltration, psychological warfare, and disrupting enemy backlines.
Free Update 1.8.0 Adds Xbox Play Anywhere and Major Tyranid Rework
To mark the fifth anniversary right away, Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector has rolled out its free Version 1.8.0 update. The headline addition is full Xbox Play Anywhere support: a single digital purchase on Xbox now grants access to both the Xbox console version and the Windows PC version, complete with cross-platform multiplayer, shared achievements, and synchronized save progression.
Under the hood, patch 1.8.0 introduces a revamped damage calculation system, adds the new "Rerouted" Skirmish map for single-player and multiplayer matches, and expands weapon loadouts for T'au Crisis Battlesuits and Ultramarine Eradicators. The Tyranids also receive a sweeping faction rebalance, granting new biological upgrades and tactical traits, such as Enraged Reserves, Hardened Biology, and Precognitive Sensoria, across all monster-class units including the Hive Tyrant, Exocrine, Tervigon, Thornback, Trygon, and Tyrannofex.
Deathmaster on Switch 2, Franchise-Wide Digital Sales, and Upcoming Releases
Over in the Mortal Realms, the Warhammer Day roundup spotlighted the new story trailer for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster from Dotemu and Old Skull Games. The 2D stealth-action platformer follows Vihneek, a ruthless Clan Eshin Skaven assassin, and is slated to launch in 2027 for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Digital storefronts including Steam, GOG, Fanatical, Gamesplanet, GamersGate, and Green Man Gaming are also hosting expansive Warhammer Day sales across flagship titles like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Darktide, Rogue Trader, and Boltgun. Meanwhile, fans of bullet-heaven action can jump into the playable Steam demo for Warhammer Survivors ahead of its November 10 release.
Wētā Workshop Marneus Calgar Statue Teaser, Displate Art, and Store Rewards
Collectors also got plenty of physical reveals for Warhammer Day 2026. Iconic New Zealand studio Wētā Workshop teased its next high-end 1:10 scale statue through a shadowy silhouette: the unmistakable bulk of Gravis armor crowned by a spiked iron halo points directly to Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar.
Elsewhere, Displate showcased new officially licensed metal posters featuring Imperial Tarot designs alongside artwork from Space Marine 2 and Darktide, while DK Books highlighted its updated Warhammer 40,000 Character Encyclopedia. Rounding out the celebrations, the official Warhammer Merch store launched new apparel and plushies, while participating local Warhammer retail stores are rewarding shoppers with an exclusive Lieutenant Titus desk mat while supplies last.

My Take
What stands out most from this Warhammer Day 2026 showcase is the long-tail support Games Workshop and its publishing partners are giving to their strategy catalog. Watching Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector celebrate its fifth anniversary with a full 13-mission narrative campaign pitting the Ultramarines 2nd Company against the Black Legion over a Noctilith Crown, while simultaneously rolling out free Xbox Play Anywhere support and a deep Tyranid monster overhaul,is a textbook example of how to keep a tactical wargame thriving. Combined with Dotemu's sharp 2D stealth direction for Deathmaster on Switch 2 and Wētā Workshop teasing Marneus Calgar, it is a great time to be a fan of both the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms.
